Honoring A King

Every year on the third Monday of January I have the distinct privilege of honoring the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Although I did not know Dr. King personally, I feel a connection to his life and legacy through my service at First Baptist Congregational Church. Dr. King stood behind the same pulpit we currently use today and gave a speech to a very divided Chicago. He resided in Chicago for a few months and tried hard to unite a torn city. There is so much to say about Dr. King but it is my hope that you would take a moment to reflect on his life and legacy and begin he work of creating your own legacy. Let Dr. King's peaceful, non-violent civil disobedience remind you of the power you have as a citizen of this world, to make a change. Dr. King stood for justice and equality. His work is still being remembered and praised today. We give honor to God for what God has done with selecting Dr. King for the work of justice and we give honor to Dr. King for his obedience.
